Our society has influenced us to prioritize wealth, perfection, and unobtainable success above faith, family, and friends.

Social media has played a large role in this swap of values by consuming our lives with filtered content. This has taken the average individual away from the present moment and into a world of idolizing unrealistic standards and values. It leaves people struggling with confidence, gratitude, and faith.

Even though these values seemed to be fading away, I started to notice the people in my life who intentionally embodied them. I set out to investigate how they navigated their lives through detailed interviews. Below is a representation of how they stay rooted in faith, family, and friends through various media.

Rooted Belongings

Here is a collection of belongings that have helped each person stay rooted in the values of faith, family, and friends.

  • "Surround yourself with people who are good at being outspoken in environments that don’t necessarily encourage faith, because the more we follow him, the more we resemble him and his love for us."

  • "When we seek happiness from the Lord, instead of this world, we will receive the kind of joy and fullness that can’t be fulfilled by other people or things."

  • "I’ve learned what it meant to have a healthy relationship with social media by limiting the time that I spend on it as well as being intentional about taking breaks from it entirely."

Abstract Rooted Paintings
